Hi everyone,

Just looking for some advice and support. I'm currently in a flare with my crohns. I started humira two months ago and have seem many improvements (nausea and rectal bleeding gone, Abdo pain and weight are improving). My inflammation was in the rectum, ascending colon, appendix, and throughout spots in the small intestine.

Now to the point. The last week I've been having a lot more pain to the lower right quadrant, which I attributed to the inflammation near the appendix. I figured I would watch it and call my doctor if it gets worse. Today and yesterday I noticed significant pain to that area during sex (with each penetration) to the point we had to stop. The pain stays quite severe for many hours after. I'm assuming it's related to the crohns (deep penetration would likely irritate the appendix right?) but I'm concerned about other causes especially since the pain with sex is new despite all my other symptoms improving. Appendicitis? Ovarian cysts? Fistula? Abscess?

My gi doc is on holidays. I'll try to call my gp tomorrow morning to get some advice, but anyone else experience LRQ pain which worsens significantly with vaginal penetration?

Thanks!

Actually my very first flare this is what sent me to the dr. I had a lot of subtle symptoms but then when my husband and i had sex one night it hurt unbearably.. So that was kind of my final thing like ok something is wrong.. I have all these other symptoms and now this.. But it has to do with swelling.. Like when i flare it puts pressure on me down there and I can't have sex..( my poor hubby) I doubt seriously it's your appendix

I've also had pain w sex from Crohns. But just curious-- are you up to date on your GYN and pelvic exams? Always good to stay up on that to rule out ovarian issues. Good luck!

I had some issues with pain in my pelvic area back when I was flaring pretty bad. My husband and I wouldn't do anything "out of the ordinary" and it would feel like my lower abdomen was just cramping and I was in a ton of pain. I feel like because those areas are so close to each other, they can have a negative effect when you are flaring. I find that the less i'm flaring, the less pain I have during intercourse. Also, of course, make sure you have a good OB/GYN to talk to, and stay up to date on your exams.
