I just need someone who is thinking more clearly than me to offer insight.

Home from DS's surprise hospital visit for two days now, but I still feel completely exhausted to the point where I probably shouldn't be driving. I recognize that I'm tired, but no amount of sleep seems to help. I spent all of yesterday just trying to decompress in front of the TV and not doing anything else, but still woke up this morning extremely tired. When I'm doing DS's abx infusions, I really have to concentrate. I've been taking 1-2 naps a day as well.

Think it's just stress??

It may be just stress, you have been through so much, and schedules can be different at the hospital with nurses coming in and out at all hours and of course the worry. It might take more than a couple days rest to get you feeling back to normal. If it continues then a trip to the GP may be in order. Hope you can rest up and start feeling energized quickly!

Is it the first time it happens to you?

I know that fall is notorious to lead me in a poor condition. I don't have medication or anything but I'm quite considering the UV lamp regarding this as I think my issue is something close to Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Could it be?

I often find it's only a couple of days after I get back home that I feel worse. Hope you pick up soon!

Sorry Mehita, hope you pick up soon. It's hard to take care of yourself when you are worried and taking care of someone else. It is most likely stress but if it continues I would definitely see the GP. Take care

Stress, lack of sleep, poor eating, no exercise....the list goes on and on when you are a mom.

Cut yourself some slack. Chores, appointments etc all on hold until you feel better. Try to eat a well balanced healthy diet. Take your vitamins. I know this sounds counter intuitive but when I am exhausted like that, I go for a run or walk. The fresh air and exercise help ease whatever it was keeping me from sleep and I zonk out like a baby.

:ghug:

So sorry to hear you are struggling... Can you get some blood work done quickly? Check your iron levels, etc... Add some extra B-12 to your diet until you get the results and see if it is clinical or even a virus (mono?)...

I pray you feel better soon...

A hospital stay puts me out of sorts for a week or so. I feel super tired, stressed, cranky, lazy, etc. I hope you recover soon!

I so hope you pick up soon Mehita. :ghug:

I also find that those first few days after being at the hospital really leave me absolutely knackered. I think it is a combination of many things Mehita...Your body may not be doing much but your mind is on constant overdrive, and who gets any rest in hospital!, there is not only the constant worry of the child you are with but life does not stop when you are there and your thoughts also go out to the ones at home. I find when I do get home that my bundle drops and I am exhausted. I can honestly say that Matt’s day surgery on Wednesday even left me feeling exhausted!
Then there is the ad hoc eating, lack of exercise and the general keeping together of things at the hospital and at home.

I think that over time stress takes a toll too. Even when things are going great I find that I am still like a gazelle ready to take flight at the slightest hint of danger. This has decreased somewhat over time for me as the kids are in remission but it has never gone away.

I agree that a check up wouldn’t go astray hun, have some bloods drawn including iron studies, B12 and Vit D.

Thinking of you.

Sorry to heAr Mehita,
But have to agree it is probably a combination of stress, not sleeping right or eating right in the hospital. Give yourself a few days and if not improving contact your doctor.

Definately talk to your doctor just to be sure. Hospitals are germy and maybe you are coming down with a bug or flu? On top of all the stress? Hope you feel well soon!

Absolutely stress, and probably hospital visit let-down. Remember to take care of yourself too! You do need sleep, but also just downtime/fun time/distractions. The IV schedule can be brutal, do you have someone that can help you? My hubby took the late-night one and I the early morning, when we had to do it every 8 hours. Don't beat yourself up too much on mistakes, just try to concentrate on one thing at a time. Limit caffeine and alcohol and maybe boost with some B vitamins. I routinely take a stress-forumula one with Bs, C, and zinc. Hang in there!!!

Totally relate to that Mehita! I feel exactly the same but just can't sleep!

Wouldn't it be lovely to be normal and have no hospital or Doctor appointments and more than anything NO WORRY!

Hopefully things will start to settle down. Hope you feel better soon, try and take some you time. Much easier said than done I know (((HUGS))) :ghug:
