I've had blood in my stool before but never anything like this! This morning I pass some dark red blood mixed in with mucous and just now I passed 2 quite big dark blood clots again with mucous. Freaking out a bit! I'm still undiagnosed awaiting results from a capsule endoscopy but my new gastro doc seems to think I probably have IBS not IBD. Surely passing blood clots isn't IBS????

I don't think IBS can lead to passing blood at all, let alone clots. Call your G.I. nurse and see if they think you should go in.

I doubt the GP will be able to do much. Anytime I've been before with gastro issues they've told me its outside the scope of their practice and to discuss with my gastro doc at the hospital. I'll try phoning the hospital tomorrow to speak to my consultant.

Hi glasgow girl.
I have had this happen yesterday and today. I have surgery tomorrow for my anal fistula so will mention it to my surgeon. I had it a few weeks ago aswell but not as much as the last few days. I would call your GI X

Definitely get in touch with your GIs secretary. And I know it sounds gross, but some people on the forum take a photo of what's in the toilet bowl.To show your GI of course, not to post on face book.
Make a list of frequency and amount etc.too.
I've had this before and a course of steroids usually clears it up.
And you don't get blood with IBS,but it is common with IBD,especially in a flare.

So I tried phoning my consultants secretary today on numerous occasions and it just rang out. No sign of any blood today so far though.

Probably finish at 4pm.Try in the morning at 9am.
Even though you've been clear so far today, please don't get complacent.
Far better make a nuisance of yourself, than get complications.
