So yesterday i started having blood in my stool. I have been on entocort for almost a month and have still had D until 3 days ago now it is just very soft stool. I was excited about the change from D to actual stool but now it is filled with very dark blood and some very bright red blood spots. The only other time that I have ever had blood was when I had C Diff and this is nothing like that was. I talked to the DR who said that I could be bleeding from my Ilieum bc mine is completely ate up with crohns or that it could be hemmoroids. I know that I dont have external hemmroids but would I be able to feel them if they were internal? I gave birth to an 8lb 4 oz baby naturally and never got hemmroids so Im leaning more to the idea that my crohns is making me bleed. The DR said that I could go to the ER and have them run a couple panels, but my blood count always comes back ok, minus anemia, so should I just let this go for a day or two and see if it resolves itself? The only other symptom that I have is cold chills and having problems regulating my temp, but no new pain or other symptoms. I need some feedback please, Im new to crohns and dont want to worry when I dont need to. Thanks.

Hi Starla -

Dark blood and a fever - I think you should go to ER. Even if your blood work has come back normal in the past, you never had dark blood in the past! Plus if you were already anemic, this is going to make you more anemic.

Better safe than sorry.

I hope you find a quick answer and can get it fixed right away!

If this isn't 'normal' for you and it's never happened before, then it's a sign something's wrong.
Try not to fret over this, it will make you more anxious and exacerbate your symptoms, so go and get it checked, either with doc or A&E.
good luck

Hi,
When was your last colonoscopy? That would probably be the way to diagnose what is going on. I think the cold chills is your body's way of telling you there is some bad inflamation / infection going on. Did you and your doc discuss Humira or Remicade? It sounds like you may need some stronger meds.

Good luck to you!

I have an internal hemorroid; a way to tell if you have them is if your bum hurts or feels itchy, and if there's quite a bit of anal pain when you do use the bathroom.

However, it sounds like you might be flaring or have some inflammation if you say this has never happened before.

I had my last colonoscopy in January and she could only get 3ft of the scope in bc i was so inflammed. I am suppose to start Remicade in two weeks and hopefully that will help. The steroids have helped some but I know that I am nowhere close to where I need to be. The bleeding has gone down alot over the weekend so Im taking that as a good sign. My DR isnt to worried about it and said that when I go in next Monday that we are going to talk about iron transfusions and injectable vitamins to help not make me so weak. I would like to hear some feedback on Remicade and if it is this miracle drug like my DR describes it to be. Thanks for everyones concern it helps me get through this.
