I think doctors should be aware that colonoscopies and the preparation for someone with an inflamed intestine can be extremely painful, much more painful than someone without any intestinal disease.

If they're not aware, those people might forego medical care altogether because of their previous experiences.

I had my first colonoscopy about 10 years ago, I didn't get any sedation, and during the procedure I was crying and screaming to stop. It took me months before I set another foot in the hospital. I've long gotten over this, but I'll never forget the pain.
 
I was fortunate to be sedated and was unaware of anything most of the time. I did sort of wake up a bit then was out again. I was supposed to have another one this month but they cancelled it. I hate the prep the most, even more than the procedure.
