As I was just recently diagnosed with UC and Proctitis I also suffer from Social Anxiety and depression, I was prescribed Pentasa for the UC and Wellbutrin for My depression. With my anxiety and depression i have tried to do things naturally like working out and therapy but with my IBD getting worse so has my depression and anxiety attacks so i figure its time to start my Anti depressant meds. Anyone have side effects with mixing the 2 drugs like weight gain, stomach aches ect....

Hi Megs,

I don't have an answer for you but saw you requested additional support. So I'm bumping your thread and and changing the title a touch in the hope that someone else out there might have some insight for you. If you want the title changed back, please let me know.

All my best to you.

Hi megs143. :) I've taken Asacol in the past (very similar to Pentasa) along with Wellbutrin and didn't have any side effects from taking the two together. I didn't stick with Wellbutrin though because it didn't work for me (I forget what I switched to). I was also taking 6MP at the time.

If you're concerned about any interactions you could contact your pharmacist and/or talk to your GI about it. I don't see any interactions with them but always contact your doctor. http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php?drug_list=2336-947,440-203

Since stress is such a major factor in flares getting your anxiety and depression under control should help you get the flare under control as well. Keep us posted on how you're doing. :)

I have been on both Pentasa and Wellbutrin for a while now, and haven't noticed any interactions. I lost quite a bit of hair from the Pentasa, well before I started the Wellbutrin. I just increased my dose of Wellbutrin to counteract the depression that the Lyrica causes, as I was on a fairly low dose. I've probably been on them together for a year now. I hope this gives you some peace of mind, although everyone is different. I will say that I am the person that has side effects and adverse effects from medications. If there is one, I typically am cursed with it. My doc says I'm like a canary in a coal mine.
