So I have been having cramps..but they feel like period cramps. I had a hysterectomy 2 1/2 months ago so I dont think its related to that right? My lower back hurts also. Do Crohn's cramps also feel like that.

I've never had a hysterectomy, so I'm not sure if cramps can be related to that or not, but I do know when I had a partial blockage I had cramps that I would equivocate to what child birth feels like (I've not had any children yet). It was intense, incapacitating cramps that also sounded and felt like aliens lived inside my guts. It was awful.

I don't know if they are anything like that, but I know people do get cramps if they have narrowing and stuff has a hard time passing through. Severe gas can cause cramping too.

Are you experiencing any other symptoms with it?

I'll have to say that Crohn's pain (when there's a blockage like a kidney stone or something) trumps childbirth and period cramps... easily... and I've always had period cramps that went along with intestine cramps if that makes sense.. like they went hand in hand.

Maura - I've herd others say they think blockage cramps are worse than child birthing cramps. If that is true, I shouldn't be too worried about having kids in the future. ;)

To be completely honest... childbirth (for me) was cake. I got an epidural 20 minutes into actual labor (because I was induced).. I often joke that I've had dental cleanings that were more painful than birthing my son...

I would say though that going through what a typical Crohn's patient goes through that going through childbirth would be an actual pleasure... at least you're getting something out of the pain! :)
