peroids and crohns

i started this thread as it was taking over another thread, and thought it should have its own.
my peroids were normal and regular, then last year i felt different, and my periods turned upwhen ever they wanted to. i went to the doctor and after 3 months of tests he told me i am going through the change. i am 39 yrs old (today!!) this was dissapointing as i wanted to have another child. does any other woman have a early menopause? regarsd sharon xx

I was going to start a thread like this at some point. Sharon, you beat me to it!

I haven't had a period in almost a year. I also had my longest time chunk of remission since diagnosis this summer, and gained much a the weight that i lost. I always had pretty regular periods, but now I have NONE. I'm 17, so I'm pretty sure that this isn't early menopause!

Happy birthday!!!!

my periods were like hell.. i couldnt even move cos of the pain they were causing me

then i went on the injection and i havnt had one for months.. its heaven :)

wish it could take care of a sore tummy though and the pain
x

I wish my wife was in menopause. This whole breast feeding vs. birth control dilemma is a nightmare. :)

My mother in law started at 57. I don't know anyone who started early though. From what I understand 39 isn't early either. It's at the early end of normal but that's really all.

I actually have easy periods... my periods make my Crohn's Disease symptoms worse... and I'll cramp every third period or so, but since I'm on the Nuvaring everything is so much lighter and easier and predictable.

I've been wondering if my lousy periods had anything to do with Crohn's. It's been better since I've been on the pill, but I typically get what I call "period tummy"...just a combination of cramping and loose stools. This has happened since long before my Crohn's diagnosis (though how active my Crohn's was before my diagnosis remains a bit unclear) and I hear that stomach upset is fairly common. I think I tend to blame everything on Crohn's. There may be no way to tell really.

Happy birthday merry! I'm sad to hear about your menopause, though, 39 really does seem pretty young to me. Does this mean you simply cannot get pregnant, or is there a chance as long as you're still ovulating, it's just harder because your ovulation is going to be so erratic?

Happy birthday!!

I'm sorry about your starting menopause, I think as long as you still have periods here and there you can still get pregnant. You might look into some ovulation prediction kits, as tracking your fertile days might be harder now. Keep trying and good luck!!

My periods are not any different since diagnosis, I just seem to be a little more poopy-ish during my period.

I find that I have looser stools and more cramping during my periods too no matter what meds I am on or whether I am in a flare or not. Spoke to my GI about it and he said it is "common" but not the same for everyone and not sure why the "period" makes things go out of whack. So I just come to expect one lousy week a month and have periods and D at the same time.

Your "joke" is like me, but all the time..

does that mean I am just a straight up b$#@!

Helllllllllooooooooooo didnt anyone see my joke?? Kinda makes me wonder.

Walks away and pouts....:(

oh i saw the joke alright, i was just building up my courage to answer;)

maybe the light globe was in the kitchen so i never saw it

we didnt bother going to the cabinet cause we know al the lightglobes in there have the wrong fitting

once we got the correct lightbulb for you, we thought we'd leave the chair there so you can sit down for a bit between the over and the fridge

we left the lightbulb box there so you could see the correct fitting we need next time you do the shopping

sorry about the rubbish in the house, i thought you would've cleaned that up while i was at work, mowing the lawn, washing the car, putting air in the tyres of your car that i've warned you about for the last 2 months, clearing the gutters, tuning the video, answering all the phone calls cause you dont want to speak to your mother after she upset you at xmas (or sally since she bought the dress that you liked, even tho you told her about it)

and the toilet roll, i use two sheets each time i go, if its nnot finished i'm not replacing it. if you feel the continuing need to send the roll spinning at close to light speed when you go in there, its a good chance that its your turn to change the roll again.

yup, i'm off to hide now.

OOOO! JED! You are in TROOOOUUUUBLE!!!!!!

My husband always thinks he does WAY more around the house than I do.
One day I got fed up with his attitude and actually made a list.
Guess who won?

(I'll just tell you the answer in case Jed has a stage of impairment again. My list was way way longer.)

Yes, Pen - we liked your joke.

nie joke pen, loved it....

Oh and lately I bet I do more around the hospital that you all!!! I even have my own room!..

HA!.......okok....what was the question??

:voodoo:

i think its very brave (or stupid) of jed to enter a thread when the conversation is about periods!!!
most men run a mile when they are mention, and remember a "important job" regards sharon xx

Good point Merry!! Ya I would figure a guy would be running as far away from a woman's monthly anything!

he he, i've found one way to carry on a very happy relationship is to be right theere during period time. sure, i come close to been murdered sometimes, but bringing every possible thing you can to your love during that time gets remembered. running down the shop buying chocky's and chips then bringing them to her on the couch with her faourite blanky and pillow gets you some real brownie points;)

Very true dear, I tend to date the type of guys that I am lucky if they don't stand me up for my bday ;)

see, i am just a man, i am a bit lazy around the house (crohns doesnt help that, but lets be honest, i am just a guy so i probably wouldn't do much more).

there are several times off the year you pull out all stops for your lady, birthday is top of that list. standing up a girl on the bday is just the hugest no-no......
