Hello. I've started using sulfasalazine en tablets 3 days ago for my joint pain. It is helping my joints but it has phthalate (Cellulose acetate phthalate) in it. Phthalate is used to make the enteric coating of the tablets and it is a known endocrine disruptor, possibly carcinogen too.
The thing is, non enteric sulfasalazine isn't available in my country and I want to keep using this drug. I really don't want to use methotrexate again but I have concerns about this matter.

Remember asacol was banned by FDA because of phthalate.

Do you have any suggestion, any idea?
Thanks in advance.

the mean urinary concentration of monobutyl phthalate, the main DBP metabolite, among these mesalamine users was 50 times higher than the mean for nonusers
