I’m working on a redesign of a pill case inspired by my brother. He has Crohn’s Disease and it has been difficult to find a container that not only accommodates for and organizes all of his pills, but also fits into his pocket. There are many other issues that have arisen from long term use of his pill case(s) and it would further my understanding of needed improvements to the average drug store pill case if I could hear some other experiences and opinions. Even just some information on what kind of container you are using for a pill case now, and how many times you need to take pills a day would help me with my redesign. Thanks a bunch!

mine is a 7 day pill case in strips of 4, i take my pills twice a day so i can fit two days worth in one strip. i cant fit all my pills in one compartment tho. Good luck on ur redesigning. what a good idea!

i have a big glass jar, in it i've tipped prednisilone (5mg and 25mg's), mesalazine, imuran, methatrexate, plaquenil, avarah, sulfasalazine, panadol, folic acid and a couple of others.

i shake it up, in the morning i take two, three with lunch, and three before bedtime. currently i'm healthier than ever:)

but seriously, i have always thought of doing a pill case, this disease is crazy for trying to remember what to take and when!

:ylol2: I just almost snorted drink out of my nose, thanks.

I take meds in the morning, the evening, bedtime, once a week, it's impossible for me to use a pill case, it would have to be the size of my laptop I think.:ybatty:

My request would be that you make it easy to open for those of us whose hands don't work well in the morning! I have a strip thingy, and it's fine apart from first thing when it keeps slipping out of my hands - I end up kind of leaning on it with one elbow, and using a pair of scissors to lever the stupid thing open!

Same goes for blister packs, actually - who on earth would put meds for RA in a blister pack which requires both strength and dexterity to break into??

Great idea - send me a design spec.

I just use the bottles from my pharmacy. Shove'em all in my briefcase or carry-on when traveling.

I've seen a variety of pill case designs.. The most elaborate was a beautiful one made of stainless steel.. it had a pill compartment, there was also a small flask for liquids to help you take your pills, and a timer/alarm programable to time of day N day of the week. It made forgetting to take a pill, or having an excuse not to, an impossibility. The 4 times a day, seven days a week, had small compartments, and were tricky for a fellow with my sized hands to use. I liked the ones that had the back that slid off for easier reloading, but the small compartments in the middle two rows just were too problematic for me to use.. they did have ones that the whole row faces slid off, but you had to schedule them to start on Sunday.. not always practical. So, I opted to use the twice a day, 7 day a week ones.. no slid off back for easy reloads, but each compartment opens by itself, and they're relatively large enuff for me to use... The only thing was that they were just two compartments a day,, and I take my pills three times a day, plus my LDN @ bedtime.. So I put two of these back to back.. using adhesive velcro strips to attach them.. and load my 5 asa in the 1st three compartments, and my LDN in the fourth. It works 99.99% of the time.. for us to rely on our memories.. just isn't taking into account the 'issues' of our illness, or the side effects of some of our meds. a double sided case like that could easily separate, with a slid out back for reloading, I would buy that!

I too had a hard time finding something to hold all my pills. My mom got me a 7 day one that is huge. She found it at a flea market. The saddest thing though is that I was so excited about it. Haha! Finally a little more organized. Every Sunday night I restock for the whole week. I just tell my husband I am going to go play pharmacist and he knows exactly what I am doing. Strange how me and my grandparents now shop in the same pharmaceutical accessory aisle.

For portability you can't beat a flexible plastic pill 'case' that can be folded up.
