please help do i have crohns???

Ive been having really bad stomach pains espically in the lower left side. ive also been passing alot of blood everytime i have a poo its all over the toilet and on my poo and its also coated with a clear mucus. ive lost my appetite and 2 days ago i got a really bad pain after i had been to the toilet, i had to get my mam to come into the toilet to help me off as the pain was so bad, the pain was a tightened gripping pain mainly from my left hand side. And ive got pressure in my lower stomach.

I got my blood took last week and some of my results are back today but not all and the doctor said there was something wrong with my white blood cells and she thinks im fighting an infection, which is why she suggested crohns. i dont know much about it so i was just wondering if any of my symptoms were similar to any1 thats got crohns.

Hi and welcome to the forum. sorry to hear that you're unwell and your symptoms do sound like they could be an IBD, but ultimately it's up to your doctor to figure out what you've got going on. If you have a look around the forum, you'll find that all of us have different symptoms and different levels of severity - Crohn's & colitis are illnesses that do not "tick the boxes" and can manifest in many different ways.

Where are you now as far as getting a diagnosis? Have you done anything besides blood tests - has your doctor done stool tests or anything like that? Do you have any tests such as colonoscopy scheduled? Have you been referred to a gastroenterologist?

I'm currently undiagnosed myself and there are many others on the forum who are also undiagnosed. We have a thread in the support forum called "Undiagnosed Club" and you're more than welcome to join us in there if you'd like.

Hi thanks, Ive got an appointment on friday with a gastroenterologist to discuss about a colonscopy and ive put a stool sample in but the results havent came back yet. I hope it can get sorted as i have been off school for months and they are considering kicking me out and ive got my exams soon :-/ Ive been diagnosed with IBS for 7 years but the symptoms im getting now are completely different.

Good luck on Friday! I hope the gastroenterologist is good and can get you going on some more tests and hopefully get some answers for you.

Yes, b12 deficiency is common with Crohn's. And Crohn's is the most likely explanation (b12 deficiency is rare in healthy individuals, unless they're vegan). Not saying you definately have Crohn's, but it fits.

im sorry to say that that sounds very similar to me and a lot of the other posts ive read. of course i cant say if you have crohns or not, but if your doctor says you do, im sure youll find all the support you need on this lovely forum :)

Hi and Welcome to the forum...:)Sorry to hear you having it so bad..It shouldn't take them long to diagnose you one the do the colonoscopy....good luck and keep us updates

i can confirm if you are b-12 deficient, this is one symptom of crohns disease. also high white blood cell count, low red blood cell count, and iron deficiency are all crohn related symptoms. although it doesnt mean you have the disease. go get a colonoscopy

If your pain is mainly in your lower left side (where your colon is) and your passing blood, that is more common with Ulcerative Colitis, another form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Many people with Crohn's also have bleeding, though so... your other thread said that your having a colonoscopy in 2 weeks so the wait is almost over, but once you have a diagnosis (hoping for your sake it isn't IBD) it can only get better. :)
