Hi everyone. I need some help/advice. I am new to this forum and I am just recently diagnosed with Crohn's. I have tried to research and read as much as I can and sometimes I feel more confused then when I started.
Anyway, here's where I'm at. I have always had bowel troubles but nothing that was too bad that it made me see a doctor. Then about 5 years ago I started having such bad back pain at night that I would wake up crying and then the night sweats started. The pain progressively got worse and started affecting me in the day too. I would use Advil to help reduce the pain, but it was always there. Now I'm active (I coach volleyball and softball), my weight is good, a non-smoker, etc. so it's not that I'm just out of shape. The pain was/is keeping me from enjoying the things I love. I have been anemic for over this 5 year period, even taking iron doesn't help. Also over this time, my fatigue is unmanageable....I can't get myself to do the things I need to: laundry, cooking, playing with my 2 year old, sometimes just getting out of bed.
Then about 6 months ago my bm troubles really kicked in. I've always had the big D, but this was crazy 10-20 times a day. I would get random fevers for no reason, mucous leaking, etc. and just felt crappy most of the time.
I decided to start with a rheumy who advised me to see a GI (the rheumy saw inflammation on a CT I had about a year ago). Had a colonoscopy and dr could only go part way due to the inflammation. He started me on prednisone and imuran. Prednisone awesome (made everything better except weight gain), imuran made me throw up. So tried Sulfasalazine (not working). Now both times I went off prednisone my body pains (back, neck, hips, hands) are worse than ever and I feel worse than ever. I keep running a fever...last night 101.6 The bm issues aren't back so I'm confused.
Here's my question....can the body aches and feeling crappy and fevers be a sign of CD or should I be looking elsewhere with another doctor? Anyway anyonelse experience debilitating body pains with CD?
I'm pleading for anyone with any thoughts to please respond...I need help desperately and don't know where else to look.
