I have been suffering for over 18 months now with pins and needles type tingling in my hands and feet. Doctors say it is peripheral neuropathy, and have done some tests to find the cause. I am waiting for the results at the moment. But over the last few days, the symptoms have suddenly got a lot worse. Rather than a 'dull' tingle, I now feel like I'm being randomly stabbed, and it has spread into my arms and legs.

I'm tapering off the fluoxetine, so I think that may have something to do with it. But bloody hell it's annoying! Couldn't sleep last night because every time I got comfortable, I got 'stabbed' somewhere, or a part of my body fell asleep. Getting pins and needles on top of pins and needles is not fun! Let's hope my results come back and they have some advice for me rather than just 'learn to live with it'.

I am sorry that you are suffering with this. My mother had it terribly in her feet, and was prescribed Cymbalta to treat the pain. It worked, and she's been on it a few years now. She has backed off from 2 pills a day to one, and wants to try tapering off completely to see if the pain comes back. If it does at least she has something she knows will work. I hope someone figures out what is going on with you and can help you.

Rebecca, that must be horrible!

This is so random you are probably gonna laugh...but have they tested you for diabetes? That one just came to me, cause that was grandpa's first symtom, and one of his only symtoms, but I imagine if you google it, it wouldnt come up.

Thanks for the support guys.

Yes I've been tested for diabetes, it's not random at all! I have also been checked for b12/anaemia/other deficiencies, and thyroid, as I also suffer with fatigue, I am sure they are linked but my doctors aren't so convinced.

At the moment I just want to know what's causing the PN, because this actually pre dates my Crohn's symptoms. If it turns out I need something like an anti depressant (cymbalta is a type of antidepressant isn't it?) to keep the symptoms at bay then so be it, but first I want to kbow if there's anything causing the symptoms that can be treated.

Yeah I get that feeling when I am on Flagyl too long...like a buzzing feeling too, as soon as I go off it goes away..so annoying.

Hope you get some answers!
