I have chrohn's and IBS. I have inflamation in the colon and rectum, therefore it is most often difficult to poop. I had a horrific flare this past January and February that drove me to start smoking....again. It helped ease the flare as it got the bowels moving again. Now that I have been smoking for several months my IBS is totally out of control with severe cramping, bloating and 8-12 bowel movements per day often comprised of just mucus. Doc says the IBS will calm if I stop smoking - which I tried a few times within the last month (with the patch of course) only to find myself unable to poop again. Perhaps it is largely psychological - but it is no secret smoking has an analgesic reaction.
Any ideas???
Thanks
