Alright, so i had an ileocolectomy on 2-25. It was done laparoscopic with an incision about 3 inches long through my belly button. Had 2 small laparoscopic sites. After all was said and done they took about 9 inches of terminal ileum. 5 inches of small, 4 of large. Was discharged on my third day in the hospital. Was on Percocet for pain until about 3 days ago, mostly at night after the first 4 days just because sleeping was not very comfortable (and still isnt really comfortable). Id probably still be on pain meds, I just ran out and feel weird asking my doctor for more haha.
The hospital stay was just that. A hospital stay hahah. Nothing really comfortable, but the nurses were great. Moving was definitely tough to do. Any sort of movement was definitely hard and painful, but it is to be expected, its surgery. The first day after was probably the worst. I told myself i didnt really need pain meds when i most certainly did. They had me walking the next morning of my surgery which was quite painful, but i cant stress how much it helped.
The second day I had my first BM. Not painful, but definitely weird considering you really cant push at all haha.
The entire time i was in the hospital i had pretty terrible gas pains. especially in the middle of the night. pain meds were definitely my friend haha.
I really have so much to say but ultimately, I would like to get to the moral of th whole story.
I am now about 2 Weeks post op. Still pretty sore and sleeping is an issue. But I have been having completely normal BM's for about 5 days now. I just want to stress how successful this surgery can be. I hope that people who are in daily pain and reccomended for surgery really thing about having it. You will read hundreds of bad stories before you find a great one. I really feel already that I have been given a great gift.
I know this was very rambly. If you have any questions please ask! Im 21 and hopefully gonna be feeling better and better for weeks to come.
