I do not know if im in the right area but here goes. two years ago i went through a rough patch in my life where i experianced anxiety shortly after that I was diagnosed with crohns after a colonoscopy orderd from my doctor my symptoms were upset stomach and diarrhea from time to time. my question is could i have been misdiagnosed because these symptoms were only present when i had anxiety, its been a year and a half now anxiety free and zero symptoms i feel great i eat what i want and live a normal healthy life. my problem is im trying to join the air national guard and the anxiety thing is not a problem because it was short term but the crohns label is sticking should i get a second oppinion or am i just SOL.

Glad to hear that you're doing well! As far as having a second opinion done, I see no harm in it! Especially if you're having doubts. Hope all goes well for you and please keep us updated. Take care! :)

Personally, I would indeed seek a second opinion when in doubt.

However, please keep in mind that Crohn's can be triggered by anxiety. I actually went into remission after removing myself from a stressful living situation - but my diagnosis was definite. The doctor you see for a second opinion will need to go over the test results from the first doctor's office, as doing new tests now would quite possibly be pointless if you're in a stable remission. Hopefully a mistake was made and you were indeed misdiagnosed.

I just had a pillcam thingy done a year and a half ago and was put on some steroid for five weeks but I never felt any difference only when I got over my anxiety did I start to feel normal again

Stress can trigger episodes. All of mine were. Diagnosis... well, if scope or pill cam show lesions, the diagnosis is right. Doesn't mean it is permanent. remissions can & do occur. Can last for years... maybe forever. If symptoms recur during stressful events, you know a trigger... AND a fix.. for your episodes. I had a remission of almost a decade after my first episode... no drugs, no treatment, no knowledge I even had this disease. My second episode was followed by almost a 5 year remission... again, no treatment, no drugs, no diagnosis. Then, my 3rd episode... but, no remission. Got my diagnosis, and fought this disease (although it was a losing fight on my end)... for years until I found my little miracle pill. Anyway, no need to trip the light fantastic down my memory lane. If there were no lesions, and a diagnosis was made on symptoms alone, it might be that you have (had) IBS. Symptoms very similar, but there are no lesions in the intestinal tract. I know people who successfully treated IBS with naturopathic healing methods, cleansing, acidophilous, a balanced diet and pro-biotics. Not everyone, but a good many.
