Hello folks,

Quick question. Had a colonoscopy and endoscopy yesterday with biopsies throughout both. I was pretty much non-symptomatic prior to the tests, and this was to either diagnose or rule out (again). I have had several of both of these tests before, but this time I am having a decent amount of pain. I finally released most of the gas today which helped, but overall I am very sore. I'm not having diarrhea. Just pain that at times is acute and specific in LLQ but mostly generalized and diffuse in LLQ. I've read that this is both normal and not normal. I imagine getting snipped in so many places must cause some pain. I'm wondering if anyone experienced this and how long I should give it until I report to the Doc. The pain was initially relieved with Advil but not so much now. The colon scope didn't show active inflammation, but the endo showed problems in my stomach - in case that would matter. And I did Colyte Prep for the first time as well. Thanks for any advice.

I don't know the answer to your question but you mentioned Advil. I have Crohns Disease and was told if I used anything but Tylenol it was bad because it could cause bleeding.

If the pain is severe then you should report it to your doctor. If you start having nausea, vomiting or fevers then report that as well or go to the ER. The main concern is a possible perforation which could lead to sepsis, surgery etc.

Thanks to both of you. Still a little sore, but feeling better. My new GI might've been a little rougher than I am used to. Biopsies all came back, and finally Crohn's has been ruled out as the source of my inflammation and obstructions, which makes me very happy. Bad news is I have a second H Pylori infection that I need to treat. It appears gastroparesis and intestinal motility issues are causing serious bacterial problems that are reeking havoc on my GI tract.
