Hey, I've just joined this forum as I'm looking for someone who may have had a similar experience. I was diagnosed with Crohn's at 8 and am now 21.
I was at my doctors at the start of the year due to having a very uncomfortable / itchy anus. My doctor had a feel / look an said everything seemed to be normal from what they could examine. I have never experienced anything like this before so not sure what to expect of the outcome. I have been put in for an Endoscopy for this Monday, and not sure what they may be looking for. Can anyone with any knowledge or own experience please help? :)

Was the endoscopy scheduled directly in response to your anal discomfort?

If so it could be just to have a look to see what if anything could account for your symptoms. Perhaps your symptoms indicate that you are developing hemorrhoids or perhaps some other condition.

If not perhaps the colonoscopy was scheduled simply as routine follow-up to check on the current condition of your Crohn's.

I believe it was in response. My Doctor wrote to my Gastro clinic at the hospital, who then sent me the letter regarding the Endoscopy. I have been on Inxliximab for almost two years and feel great in myself so don't feel like I have any other Crohn's symptoms.

Thanks for responding :)

There is so many things it could be..just a few ideas to consider- constipation, a fissure, spices/food irritant in your diet, too much caffeine, piles, incontinence iritating that sensitive area, a soap allergy. Very sensible to get this checked out right away. Hope it eases up soon for you.

A few years ago, I got small internal hemorrhoids that were simply annoying and uncomfortable. i remember feeling a sort of mild pressure in my anus constantly. This situation lasted for months. if I remember correct, my GI did a special 180 degree maneuver during resctoscopy in my rectum to have a better view of the anal area.
