Post op maintenance drug

I am post op and doing pretty well now. I don't want to go back on humira or 6mp because they suppress the immune system. Anyone with aggressive crohns who found one of the ASA's or something else work after surgery?

I had my surgery 5 weeks ago and I'm eating the same meds as I was before surgery: azathioprine 150 mg per day. It's supposed to prevent new strictures. I stopped Pentasa after my doc honestly told me it doesn't affect to Crohn's almost at all!

I was on 6mp before surgery but it didn't prevent the surgery so I don't trust it.

Hello -- glad to hear you're doing well! I was on 6MP before and after surgery, but pretty soon after surgery was unable to tolerate it (my white counts kept getting too low). I'm just on Asacol now, which I guess I could say is working, but I'm not sure how long-term I'll be able to stay on it without an immunosuppressant.
