I had a small bowel resection in early May due to a stricture and a fistula. They removed 9 inches, mostly the ileum. I did not need a temporary bag. The surgeon said my bowels would go back to normal and move a little faster after about 6 months. I was dealing with some constipation after my surgery, but now I am going about 1-3 times a day. Is this normal? Thank you!

I had a resection in November so 9 weeks ago. I was originally told by the surgeon I would probably go 1-3 times a day. Which I am doing but each time I do go its with urgency and loose/diarrhea. I'm trying to watch what I eat to help it but doesn't seem to make much difference. It's really frustrating after going through surgery to still be having problems!! Do you see a gastro doctor? They may be able to help you?

When I first had my resection, it seemed I was having issues but after a few months it seemed to calm down. I think some of it had to do with adjusting my diet.

Gluten free. No more eating skin from potatoes or chicken. In the last few months I am learning I can't deal with nuts or most chips.

1 - 3 times is not bad. But if it's loose and watery, burning and yellowish, you might be suffering from bile malabsorption. It's common in people who have lost their IC valve. I control it by tring to avoid oily, fried foods as that's what sets it off for me.
