Power went off overnight...

Hi,

I've seen various things across the internet but thought I'd ask here...

My Humira pens are kept in the fridge and unfortunately the power went off overnight. The fridge door was kept shut for the whole night so I'm presuming the temperature was still quite low while the power went off.

I checked the pens this morning and the window shows that it is still clear.

Has this happened to anyone else? Will it be ok to use still? I'm guessing it should be as I've seen posts about people going on road trips and only having a cool pack

Hi,

It should be just fine if the fridge door was closed during the night. You could always call your pharmacist to ask for piece of mind though :)

Natalie-

I had a similar issue and when I called Abvie (abbot) they said that the door being closed is ok, but when I balked and told them I do not feel safe taking it they said that I was well within the windows with the fridge door being closed. When the power came back on how cold or warm was it in the fridge?

Agreed with Axel: I had an incident recently where I just forgot my pen out for too long and called the people who supply Humira for me. They told me that it lasts much longer without refrigeration than it used to, so you should be fine. :)

I had a similar experience - My refrigerator was left open over night. I called Abvie and they said it was fine. My GI tells me that the worst that can happen is that the dose is ineffective after being at room temp too long.

I needn't have panicked - not only was it still kept chilled because the fridge door was firmly shut but when I scoured the trillion pages of drug info it comes with I saw at the very end that it is fine unrefrigerated for considerably more than overnight (forgotten the exact time) and I went ahead with my shot and am still here and well so....
