I have been on Prednisone about 2 weeks. We started with 10 mg and then have just gone down to 5 mg like two days ago.

The last day of the 10 mg. I forgot to take it and by the end of the day my hands were so swollen I could hardly do anything with them. Next morning same, I took one more 10 mg and as day went on, swelling went down in my hands. Next day I started the 5 mg. Here on day 3 I forgot again and here is that swelling again.

Do you think the swelling is from the prednisone or from the lack of prednisone?

I had surgery on both hands couple of years ago before this problem started. I had carpal tunnel surgery and then trigger finger release a year later. It had solved the problem totally. Until now.

Thanks in advance,

Several years ago, I missed a day of prednisone. I got really sick.

If it popped up that quickly I wouldn't think it likely to be from the prednisone. That seems to be a fairly rapid response. It does build a little in your system. My gut feeling is that there may be some other reason for it.

On a side note - for me prednisone does lead to water retention now and I do get serious swelling in my hands and feet when I take it. A couple winters ago I couldn't get my feet into my winter boots because of it. Clearly not the case for you based on your description.

Talk to your doc about it. If it happened when you missed a day, I would think it may show up again when your dose goes down to 5 mg. Watch for it and contact your team if it reappears.
