Prednisone Question

I just started taking prednisone 3 days ago. I'm already getting the shakes, periods of off and on weakness and peeing every hour especially at night. Is this normal?

Those can all be side effects of prednisone. For me it took a few weeks before any side effects appeared, they came on gradually. I'm sure it could be quicker for others though, especially if you're taking a high dose.

So yes, it's probably normal, but that doesn't mean you necessarily have to put up with it - sometimes there are ways to counter side effects, if you ask your doctor. And be careful about driving or any other high risk activity if you're shaky.

Hi mzlateah, how much pred are you taking?
I found that when I first started taking it I got the shakes a little and found that my heart was pumping quite fast in my chest. I started on 8 tablets a day and slowly dropped down 1 a week to zero. I wouldn't worry about it. I think it happened to me coz I started on a high dose and its quite a strong steroid. It only lasted for a few days.

How many a day are you taking?

I am taking 40 mg daily. I also find that if I take it too late in the day, I don't sleep well at night.

Ok your taking the same dose as me then 8 tablets a day. I take them at 6am to try and help with the sleeping issues.
