Hey all...just have a question I was wondering anyone could help with:

I was on Prednisone (40mg) and Advair (100/50 twice a day) for 4 days and 6 days respectively. Also on Clyndimiacin for about a week and a half during this. I dropped them both cold turkey without tapering and have been struggling for a bit. I had headaches similar to Cheekys, nausea, and dizziness for the past 6 days since being off them osince New Years. New Years was especially bad. The nausea and headaches have tapered a bit as well as the dizziness, but I'm still nervous. The fact that I've got a panic disorder/GAD situation going on too isn't helping matters.

Any idea if this makes sense? I'm pretty sensitive to meds but this had me a little worried.

Thanks in advance!

Did the doctor stop you cold turkey or did you decide on that yourself? Because it's very bad if you do at that level. I have been on it for 2½ years and now whenever I taper down by 2.5mg (every one or two months) I have nausea, vomiting, and body aches.

Prednisone can also cause problems with people who have mental disorders. Scratch that, it causes mental problems even with people that don't.

I was on the evil Pred on and off for 4 years, more on than off as every time I went off I got sick again. I stopped cold turkey (along with all my other meds) then had an insane flair and a nervous breakdown at the same time, and spent the next 8 months in my parents basement hiding from the world. Evil Pred is no joke!:ymad:

I don't know if evil Pred, stopped after 6 days, will cause crazy symptoms. It never did for me but YMMV.

EDIT: I now avoid evil Pred. I have only taken it once since 2000, when all that stuff went down. I took a Medrol dose pack last year. No probs then, but I won't become dependent on it again!

After reviewing the dosage, it was actually only 4 days at 40mg. The nausea, dizziness and head pressure are still here and there after being off for almost 9 days. Is this normal? Can a combo of pred and advair do this. Before taking the meds I've never had headaches or was nauseaus for any particular amount of time.

ugh...

Ive never been on advair, but am currently on Pred. I am tappering at 10mgs per every few weeks...its terrible on me when I tapper. I feel like I have the flu and my body hurts really bad....although, it only lasts for about 3-5 days and I feel better again. From what I know, you should never stop Pred cold turkey while taking a high dose...and 40mgs is high. Pred surpresses your adrenial system, and so we tapper slowly so that the adrenals will have a chance to kick back on over time and you dont feel as bad. Right now your adrenals are not up to par, so until that kicks back on....your going to feel bad. I would make sure you talk to your doc if you havnt already...he may want you to go back on. I wish you luck in what you do~

Thanks BLM! I spoke with the doctor and he recommended I just continue to stay off to clear out my system. Would the withdrawal be the culprit for the dizziness, nausea, and head pressure? I'm concerned it might be something else, although, over the past nine days it hasn't really gotten worse and there have been times where it's been better.

Take it easy!

How is your blood pressure. My usually normal blood pressure skyrockets when I'm on pred and after I go off of it.

I drink hybiscis tea, which really helps clean out your kidneys when I go off pred to minimize the side effects. It works pretty good, but really only time will do the trick.

I don't think it shouldn't be too bad for you for only 6 days. I cold turkey'd 40 mg and I was on it for around 2 months. My doc later said I was lucky I was young and could have bounced back with my organs.
