I was wondering when the side effects of prednisone go away? I was on 50mg daily since December, then slowly tapered down...As of mid April my doctor said I could be done with taking it. I am on Imuran 150mg daily and this is working for my Crohn's. My face is still bloated/puffy and I had gained about 25 lbs on the prednisone... I am wondering when the moon face will go? and if the weight will come off? I have actually been eating healthier and yet I haven't lost any weight... this was never an issue for me. Any ideas?

I was on prednisone last fall for several months and it took me a good 3months before my face went back to "normal". I put on weight and that never really came off, but I was so malnourished and underweight that I really didn't need to loose the weight, except in my midsection, which was swelling because of the prednisone. It water retention mostly, so it takes some time, unfortunately. Same goes for the acne, mood swings, insomnia, and all the other fun side effects. You are definitely NOT alone in your frustrations!

Currently on Prednisone. Finding the side effects incredibly difficult to deal with! Hormones are a killer! Usually getting about five hours of sleep a night, broken by persistent need to pee!

takes a few months for the Moon Face to go away. It will start to go away when you dip below 20mg a day.
