Hello....just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant after months of trying - hurrah...there is hope. Have any of you had sucessful pregnancies while taking mercaptopurine/loperimide, desperately need reassurance after a worrying visit to a gynacologist who knew nothing about Crohn's medication and scared me half to death. Have been reassured by hopsital but not the same as from real people who have experienced it....am living in Cyprus at the mo but under a UK hospital. Hope you are all well?
For Mercaptopurine this is what Wikipedia says: "This drug is traditionally not recommended during pregnancy but this issue has been debated and current evidence indicates that pregnant women on the drug show no increase in fetal abnormalities. However, women receiving mercaptopurine during the first trimester of pregnancy have an increased incidence of abortion."
Congrats on the pregnancy!! That is awesome! I'm worried about conceiving as well...working on one and a half ovaries
I was told I couldn't be on Imuran while pregnant, although the doc said there wasn't anything 'wrong' with that...but I am going to try to quit it when I'm preggo...just in case.
