Hello everyone! My name is Lucas. I live in Duluth in the United States. My story starts out at almost three years ago when I was hospitalized with acute colitis. During that time I had very bloody diarrhea mixed in with severe abdominal pain in the lower right side. The pain was so bad that if I was laying down I would grip the sheets each time a wave of pain would pass through that area. The pain was unique as it would come intermittently, but it was always localized in that same lower right side. So after I couldn't take the pain anymore I went into the hospital where the GI doctor did a colonoscopy. The doctor afterwards stated that he couldn't tell if it was crohn's or ulcerative colitis so he just labeled it acute colitis becuase he figured this would be my only episode.
In the months and years that followed about one to every three months I would come down with this awful pain in my lower right side that would be relieved only if I went to the bathroom. Sometimes I would have blood and pus in my loose bowel movements and other times it would be normal stools or sometimes I would just be constipated. I guess I should consider myself lucky that this stuff doesn't happen often. If it wasn't for the terrible pain I would probably have thought nothing about it.
Now I guess I could be called a fool for not seeking help earlier and my reason for not doing so has probably cause more damaged than anything else. Anyways, just recently I went to see a GI specialist who gave me the crohn's disease provisional diagnosis until I had some more tests. I just had a barium ct scan today so I'm waiting on the results from that as well. And if the barium ct scan doesn't find anything conclusive then I need to have another colonoscopy which I'm not looking forward too, but if it means that I can get some help then I will gladly do it.
I've read some other people's stories on here and some of them are like mine and others seem so severe. One person said that everyone is different. I don't know how different I am, but it's like they say "misery loves company," and I don't mean that in a bad way as everyone on here seems very helpful. I just hope I can learn from everyone else to see what works and what doesn't. Sorry for making this so long. I hope you all have a symptom free day and I wish peace on all of you. Take care.
