Just looking for informaiton on probiotics. They are being reccomended for my son, alon with enzymes. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is between a probiotc and an ezyme, except, if I understand correctly, probiotics contain live bacteria.

It seems kind of scarey, introducing all these live bacteria deep into your intestinve. Have probiotics been around a long time? Is there enough study to know that there are no serious long term side effects from them?

Thanks.

Probiotics are good bacteria that kill off the bad bacteria in the intestines. I have trired a few different kinds of probiotics. At first I took Acidopholis with Bifidis, then I just took acidopholis, and now I am taking Primal Defense. I have been taking this for two weeks and now I don't get stomach pains. I used to get them all of the time and now I don't. I haven't been helping myself either as I have been eating a lot of fast food which has always given me diahrea. So I have been getting a lot of that lately. But as long as I don't get stomach pains I am fine. Just tell him to drink a lot of water.

Good luck

I would recommend Primal defense by Garden of Life also what they are doing is helping the body get back to a normal state. Good luck

im taking acidopholis, one with lunch and dinner.Havnt noticed any improvemets, but i have only been taking them for a week, and for the majority of the week ive been on anti biotics

Probiotics should be used whenever antibiotics are used unless your doctor says otherwise. The antibiotics kill off much more bacteria than what you are targeting.

Probiotics are just more of what is in your gut already minus the harmful bacteria. There is no reason to believe they could be harmful that I have heard of. I still take them although they did not do anything much that I could tell.
They did knock down the nasty stool smell so I am assuming I was missing some beneficial bacteria.

I could have made some pretty nasty perfume out of my stool before. It smelled like the dirtiest Hog farm you could imagine. My wife can now use the same bathroom as me.

She would probably hide the Primal Defense in my food if I quit taking it.

That's pretty funny. Thanks.

haha dbergy. too much bad bacteria in ur system, the probiotic kills those so they couldnt produce the waste which makes the poop smell. same thing happened to me basically. smelled really bad until i started taking probiotics. hey, one way to tell its working. i personally have no stomach pains when on them, its awesome.

Think of it this way. Before pesticides and herbicides were used, we got plenty good bacteria into our intestinal tract. So, in response to how long they've been around... many many many years. I know quite a few people who say their relatives eat clay and/or dirt for health benefits. I'll stick to Primal Defense. It's almost like dirt but in pill form. haha.
