What probiotics has your GI recommended to you? Asking for my son who is 16 and has Crohns. Just curious, our GI gave us a list of acceptable ones, but want to see which ones are on your list too. Thank You!

My kiddo has been prescribed by his GI
Vsl#3 double strength
You can only get it by prescription.
It is not covered by insurance and is $$$

It does work for my kiddo and he has been on it for years

The make vsl#3 otc capsules which have a far lower probiotics dose
But are still way higher than most otc brands

The packets my kiddo takes are 900 billon
The capsules 112 billon
Vsl is refrigerated so live

Culturale is 30 Millon I believe
Is on the shelf =dead


So big difference

I did VSL 3 a few years ago. Didn't work for me sadly. But I know some people lose their good bacteria far quicker than others & in those cases its very helpful.

VSL#3 has helped me immensely after years of cipro and flagyl use. I now use it weekly, just for maintenance. Worked great for me.

Culturelle is dead on the shelf ! It's good that my sister paid for a box of 80 capsules at CostCo and I did not have to pay for them !

You get VSL#3 from the pharmacy, it is a blend of probiotic cultures to help quickly restore gut flora. They keep it refrigerated so it stays live. If you check with the pharmacist or doctor they should know who has some.
