So I have a question for you guys!

Do any of you, or have any of you taken psylium husks, omega three fatty acids, or the primal defense probiotics and noticed a real difference? Have they bothered any of you while taking them in a flare? They were reccomended to me and I was wondering if any of you had taken it with good or bad results! I'm in the midst of a flare and taking 60 mg of pred at the moment. I don't know if that info will change any opinions. Thanks in advance for the help!

I take omega threes and probiotics and a handful of other supplements. I have never taken psylium husks. DBergy probably has good advice on them.

I also take them on Pred. currently only on 15 mg a day, but was at 40 and taking them.

I have this theory that if you populate yourself with good bacteria, bad bacteria are less likely to take over and cause problems. Even if you dont notice any real difference with probiotics, I think its a good idea to take them everyday.

Some people notice gas and bloating with fiber supplements, I am one of them. Some people notice less diarhea while taking them so you never know till you try.

There are supplements that have some studies saying they do relieve the bodies inflammatory response. Some of them include, turmeric, fish oil, garlic, ginger and vitamin D. Vitamin D is important for so many of the bodies functions I think its important to get your levels tested and take enough to bring the levels to normal.

Green tea is good for many reasons, I like to take it because its good for preventing cancer and helps the body detox, which is important when taking so many pharmaceuticals. I have also looked into foods and things we can do to support our detox pathways. I take epsom salt baths and drink lemon water in the morning abour 15-30 min before breakfast. This is also good for detoxing.

I am very much into damage control.

Thanks for the advice! I've just been feeling awful lately and we didn't want to do something that might make it worse. I wanted to get an idea of how they worked for others, but of course I won't know until I try it myself!

Lydia, same here! My parents are all about controling CD with diet rather than medications and since I'm still pretty new to the disease we're still learning what works for me and what doesn't. I have noticed that Vitamin D is certainly helping and well I LOVE garlic! :D I'll definitely have to try some of the other things you mentioned as well!

If anyone has any other suggestions I'd love to hear them!

Oh and water. Drink water. Its good for so many things. Sometimes with all the supplements and things I try to include in my diet, I forget to drink water.
