Hi everyone

I was just wondering if you get abdominal pain and cramps after you eat something, do you feel better if you go to the bathroom after? Sometimes I feel like the cramps and sharp pain are better after I go to the bathroom (usually have diarrhea after an episode of bad pain). Any thoughts on what others experience would be great.

Thanks

I get pain about 2 hours after eating in 1 part of my belly. I also get pain right before a bowel movement in another part of my lower abdomen. Feels better after though.

I think everyone is different on this. Some feel pain right after eating and nothing helps it, others like you, can get some relief from using the bathroom.

I know in my personal experience (everyone is different), this happens to me when I am flaring. I eat and within the next half hour or sometimes even sooner I get a sharp pain, cramping/burning sensation in my intestinal area (not my stomach) and an urgency to go to the bathroom. Once I go things ease up a bit for me.

Some folks can blame it on crohn's in their stomach or small intestine but I don't have crohn's in that area; i have crohn's in my terminal ileum and colon so the pain for me starts much lower in the abdomen. I feel like the whole act of eating while flaring triggers my digestive system and my colon freaks out and puts itself into overdrive too soon and hurts like h-e-double hockey sticks until I clear it out with a bathroom visit.

Going to the bathroom is a relief for me, I always just assumed it free's up more room and cause's less pressure on things.
