Hey!

:poo:
So that little dude right there was pretty much me for the last 10 minutes!

Just wondering has anyone else had any experience with mucus in their stool?
A few weeks back I was constipated for a good 3 weeks solid and when I did go to the bathroom it took a long time to pass and there was a lot of mucus in my stool. There was also some bright red blood specks but I believe this was from a very small fissure which has since cleared itself up.

Well all of that cleared up about 2 weeks ago and for the last week i've been back in remission however going to the bathroom again tonight I found it was quite difficult to pass (very hard - in mainly small pellets and very dark) and there was mucus in my stool again.

Could this be a sign of another flare up happening? Has anyone had any experience with this? I'm currently un-diagnosed and my flare ups usually just come on with straight abdo pain so this is not what i'm used to!

:frown:

usually when my bm get solid i get alot of mucous in my stool as well. I dont notice it when i have D but that could be just the consistency you cant actually see it......I just assume its always there.

I will pass stools when solid that seem to be covered in white mucous. Generally i get like this right around my period.......my BM always have gotten more solid around my cycle.

I am officially undianogsised as well. Even thought my colorectal surgeon has said its Crohns he wont offically say it. Frustrating. But I know that I am just learning all this as well and i try and keep track of how i feel each week at least, if not daily. I am starting to learn what causes what and i want to learn how to control some things--such as stress. I have a hard time with that...! And stress hurts me.....causes my stomach to pain and D.......and then i suffer all day or two days due to it.

and as i said i am noticing around my mentrual cycle my bm change and get more solid and thats when i notice the mucous.

I dont normally notice it before a flare.....but we are all different. I say my best tool is keeping track of things like this so i become aware.

I too have mucous with my bm and I am in the process of getting dx. My GI did say that mucous indicates inflammation in your GI tract and it would have to be examined to determine the source. So far I've had endo/colonoscopy all was normal visually with gastritis in my tummy. Next is to set me up for a pill cam. Good luck to you and hope you get to feeling better.

I'm sure someone will come along with better info than me and be able to mre clearly answer your questions!

Thanks guys! Just a little update its 2:30am here and I haven't been able to get to sleep, have had crazy nausea and just spent 20 minutes puking my guts out :( not impressed considering my doctor said my CRP levels are nearly in normal range again and I'm likely in remission... plus i've felt fantastic all day today!!!

@OntatioMom Thanks for that. Interesting that you mentioned it changing around your period. Mine just started yesterday so maybe it could be related to that also. I never get D but i have noticed that with stress I usually flare up. And stress isn't so easy to avoid as a teacher/having a crazy family! I have started a little journal to keep track of my eating habits and BM's etc so I wonder if i'll see any patterns with this

@Clash I'm in the same boat! Was refered to my local hospital last week as an outpatient and waiting to hear from them so i can talk to a specialist and get some tests done so I can get a proper diagnosis and start some kind of treatment plan. Thanks though, good to know others have that symptom as well :)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand the nausea has returned! What the &$^(@$!!!!
There is seriously nothing left to throw up. :( Going to be a loooooong night I think.

Awww...I am so sorry you are feeling so bad especially after having a good day. Have you been experiencing the nausea? Can you get your GI to prescribe something to combat the nausea? If you are still expereriencing it in the morning maybe you can ring the GI and get him to prescribe you something, I know all night vomiting is the worst!! Hope you get to feeling better!!

I have had metaclopramide in the past for nausea but it didnt seem to do a lot so lately i've been on Ondansetron which works sometimes and others doesnt. Tonight is one of those 'not working' times!!!
Nausea is one of my most prominent symptoms but after having such a good few past couple of days it's surprised me! Oh well, not a lot I can do but ride it out. And i'll take the nausea over the abdo pains any day :)

Thank you Clash :) So nice to be able to talk to people who understand what it is like!

nausea does suck. When i am in a flare(?) ( i am still not sure exactly what everything means when i feel a certain way) I get nauseous from eating...i can literally be starving , take one bite of any food, and have to put it down. thankfully so far, i havent actually thrown up from it yet. There will be days when i can take a bit of food and have it hurt my abdomen so bad that i dont eat.......

I feel for you.....cause puking is horrible. Esp when you are trying to sleep. The only things that have saved me in the past is water and applesauce. They seem to be the foods that dont cause me too much of any discomfort.

lately my fistulas have both been achey......i would take the nausea over that ! I have nrg to day and want to do stuff, but the ache in my butt is slowing me down. Which is too bad, as my tummy feels good today!

cant seem to win.......

I hope you can get your nausea under control........i am waiting on my referal to my GI to come through, then i plan on asking a WHOLE lot of questions!! :) in fact that is going to be my next post!!! :)

You might want to try some Ginger tea and Ginger Root pills. I use both when the nausea is acting up. It does not fix it but seems to take the edge off. Hope you feel better!

Do you have seasonal allergies? I know this sounds weird, but I have bad allergies that cause me to get really drippy and congested. It causes my Crohn's to flare up and I notice way more mucous in the stool. Perhaps our bodies can't process it. But Im just guessing....but it does happen to me as well, especially during bad allergy times.

Nope, never had any kind of allergeries!

So for the past 2 days i've thrown up nearly everything i've had to eat and drink. Even drinking a cup of tea made me feel incredibly nauseous. :( I can eat and I can be fine for like an hour and then the nausea will hit and i'm vomiting again. With drinking it usually only takes like 5 minutes until I feel like throwing up. And i'm trying really hard not to throw up because I know I need to keep the food down.

I'm tired all the time, can't sleep at night, and I had random intermittent abdo pains in my usual areas which is normal for me.

Help!!! What is wrong with me??? :(

Oh and I can also feel my food and drink coming back up my oesophagus and going back down over and over again (often before I throw up). I'm just so sick of all of this, one moment I feel like I'm getting better again and then something new pops up and knocks me right back down.

Im sorry I don't know. I have not experienced that. It does not sound like Crohn's though to me. Perhaps its a virus. You should see your doctor asap. And sometimes it's good to find a different doctor if you aren't happy with the first one's diagnosis. Good luck and feel better. Give us an update.

I dont know much about Crohns yet, but that doesnt sound good. Hope you get checked out.....

Update!
Ended up back at my GP's and my blood pressure was really low and I was pretty dehydrated so they put me on a saline drip straight away and gave me a shot for the nausea. They took my bloods again and they showed a slight elevation again in CRP so they reckon it was probably a minor flare but is back to normal now! Eating small ammounts again and started on meal replacement shakes to try get my weight back up because im under 50kg's again now!
Feeling ok today anyways and just have to keep waiting for an appointment to see the gastro-intestinal specialist!

Hi Nicole,

I just joined and figured this out.

I sent you a PM. I have Ulcerative Colitis and my flares always start with mucous in the stool.

I would suspect your are experiencing reflux (the food moving up and down) as well. It can be taken care of with over the counter meds.

Good luck!
