Hi,
I've been on Prednisone for 6 weeks now. I've noticed that my urine ain't quite right. Cloudy and yellow yet my urologist says I have no UTI. I wonder if I'm just dehydrated from fluid retention. Asked both GI and urologist about this but they both seem clueless.

Does Predisone cause dehydration? Will my pee go back to normal?

You should see decreased water coming out if you're taking in the same amount and your body is holding on to more of it. You can increase your water intake and return to a normal level of urination and then when your body maxes out on how much fluid it wants to retain you'll be peeing more. Or, you can drink the same amount and have less pee now and then normal pee when your body gets to the level it wants to be at. You can mix it up between those two scenarios if you want too.

I just started back on the prednisone a week ago and noticed my skin is extra dry and I'm getting more headaches which I think is from dehydration. I guess it would be a good idea to maximize water intake when taking this drug.

when do you guys start seeing these side effects? I've been on Pred for a week now,
no effecst whatsoever...

Hi Mini,

Not everyone will suffer the same side effects as with lots of meds so you may not have any issues. Lucky you! Hope you are doing well.

Mini -
Insomnia hit me after about 3 days. I was on 40mg/day. Once I lowered to 30mg, it went away. I'm on 20 now and sleep like a baby.

Fidgetyness hit me after 3 days also. Still fidgety.

Moonface and bloating started after 5-6 weeks.

Didn't mind drug for first 3 weeks. Now that it's been 6-7 weeks, I'm dying to get off them.

I know how you feel fenway. I loved it and then started getting antsy to get off the stuff after about the same amount of time.

Having been on about 25 different oral meds in my life (most Crohns through "trial and error", some Bipolar meds during some "trial and error"), I've been told for years many meds will leave a powdery or cloudy look in your urine, some discolor it as well. Antibiotics are a big one for that.

Yup. I've been on antibiotics for a year. I often get cloudy pee. but not always.
