Questions about Imuran

I have recently come off steroids (pred). They did not work the way I thought, the pains never went. My dr spoke about trying me on Imuran if the steroids did not work. I have my appointment next week and was just wondering about any side effects and mainly if it actually works?! The meds I am currently on are no longer working and i suffered sevre hair loss with them.

Any help will greatly appreciated :ysmile:

How long had you been on preds and what dose, maybe they didn't give you enough or for long enough to kick butt so to speak.
I was on Imuran for a couple of years and it worked well for me, no side effects that I can remember. I was housebound due to injury and couldn't get Imuran for a couple weeks and when I tried to go back on, my body rejected it, so if you do start Imuran or any other med and it works don't stop taking unless advised. I Think there is a support section for Imuran on the site and there will be tons of people who can give you their experiences.
What meds have you been on up to now and have you had a diagnosis?

Hi Gwen

I was prescribed Imuran yesterday but can't start taking them untill I get the OK from my Doctor. I am looking forward to starting this as hopefully it will help a lot. It's reassuring to know you didn't get any side effects.

I have been on Asacol since 2007 but it just isn't working any more, so hopefully Imuran will sort me out.
