Hey,

Nearly two years ago I had a right hemi colectomy and a ileum resection due to a perforated bowel. Exactly 1 year ago i started taking azathioprine and in Jan I had a fecal test of 63, which was reassuring that stuff was good inside, however today I got my result of an updated fecal that was done in april, this result was 173, still indeterminate.

Now, my gastro explained to me that I can wait 3 months before I have a scope because I am going travelling soon and she said it wont be a problem at all as it is not a immediate problem. Although she said I can have one before I go which is in 1 month so Im obviously going to do that, settles my mind at least.

Has anyone had a similar result? Should I be worried? I mean if she said I can wait 3 months it cant be too worrying. TIA.

Hi. My calprotectin level was 674 in March. With some people it can get extremely high.
I am new to Crohn's, but 173 does not seem like an emergency situation.
What are your current symptoms?
Is aza your only medication ?
But still, if you need peace of mind, then get the colonoscopy earlier.
How long will you be traveling for ?
I am just learning about Crohn's, but many people here have extensive knowledge about it and the treatments and the tests and the surgeries.
I hope your colonoscopy goes well.
Take Care.
