Rashes? Is this normal!

Hi,

I had a colonoscopy last Tuesday and was told I have UC. I have to wait 4 weeks for my biopsy results to find out where in my colon the UC is precisely causing the issues.

I now have a months supply of predfoam enemas to help reduce my inflammation. I was finally feeling optimistic in the sense that I finally had an answer to why I'd been so unwell for so long. Makes perfect sense considering my mum was diagnosed with ulcerative Crohn's some time ago.

A new problem has arisen...... I now have a rash covering most of my body. Red blotchy spots varying in shape and size. Sometimes it's really red, other times barely visible, but lumpy! It itches every now and then too. I've had this ever since the endoscopy, and before starting the predfoam. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've spoken to a pharmacist who advised me to see my GP, but thanks to the waiting times (Nhs) I decided to visit a walk in centre. The Dr there seemed uninterested and dismissed it giving me a hydrocortisone cream which has done nothing to help.

Its probably unrelated, but I wondered if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Hey there. I know quite a few peeps with Crohns who get skin issues so maybe it's the same for UC? I get itchy a lot more and have red itchy areas that I never had pre Crohns. I use a combination of Betnovate cream and Aloe Vera Gel in between so I'm not applying too much hydrocortisone. Eczema is also an auto immune condition and my dermatologist says he sees a lot of Crohns related skin issues. I am also on infliximab which is amazing but the itchy thing is the only side effect. Maybe ask to see a consultant dermatologist. There's a fab one (NHS) here at York called Dr Callum Lyon and he specialises in Crohnc and Colitis skin issues and the issues around stomas etc too. Maybe get down here. From Teeside it's only 45 miles. Good luck : )
