Whether you're bored in the hospital, looking for an escape, or just flat out avoiding IBD... a good book can do wonders for the mind. So, what are you reading these days?

I'm reading the Septimus Heape series by Angie Sage. I like children's novels - they are less stressful and much more enjoyable when I already have enough stress to deal with. How about you?

I have just read Dan Brown's latest release, Inferno. Really enjoyed it!

Also had a couple that I had sitting in the iPad library for a little while so knocked those over too:

The Help (Kathryn Stockett) and The Storyteller (Jodi Picoult). Enjoyed of those as well. :)

Oh, just some light reading here... The Emperor of All Maladies. I was on the library waiting list forever and it was finally my turn. Not exactly a beach read, but very interesting. Methotrexate and 6MP make appearances.

Just finished The One and Only Ivan last week. Might be my new favorite book!

I'm reading The White Queen by Philippa Gregory, it's really good and I'm not usually good with historical novels 😊

Ooh Dusty, The Storyteller is on my list of things I want to read! Since getting a kindle I have a long wish list and a lot in my library...

I really like Jodi Picoult and have just finished reading Plain Truth by her.

I'm always on the look out for good books :)

I just read So Much For That by Lionel Shriver and really enjoyed it.

Touches on some issues I'm sure will be understood by those with IBD!

I just finished The Kite Runner last night. Plan on starting Mudbound today.
I just downloaded The One and Only Ivan because of Mehita's glowing endorsement above! I love being able to download books from the library!

I just started "The Fever Tree" last night and recently finished "The Good Nurse". True story of a nurse who took the road of the devil or wanted to play god! However you look at it!

"Game of Thrones" right now and before that "Paris" by Edward Rutherford. I love historical novels but then I love good trashy novels as well. Next is "The Giver" on Jack's recommendation, he read it in school and couldn't put it down he loved it.

Jmrogers4 - how was Paris? I loved New York but didn't really enjoy London.

Love historical novels too - have really enjoyed some of Lesley Pearse's books, especially Remember Me, Never Look Back, Gypsy... couple others too.

You will probably laugh at me, but I like all the vampire type books and magic/adult fairy tales. Talk about escaping reality!

SAscot... OMG, I read a trilogy that I really enjoyed... by Nora Roberts, first one was Dance Upon The Air... you'd probably enjoy it! :D

Haven't read anything recently, but whizzed through all the 50 Shades books

:D.

Love having time to get lost in a book, will read most things from Harry Potter to True life stories.

Tess - Don't we wish that was the life Paris, London, New York!
Paris was okay, he jumped around in time a lot and I kept having to go figure out who belonged to what family at first. I haven't read New York. I did read London but liked Sarum much better.

I'll have to look up Lesley pearse, I don't think I've read anything by her.

I'm like you Niks I will pretty much read anything.

I can't go to sleep without reading before hand and both of the boys are just like me.

I love to read at bedtime too. As for Jodi Picoult, I have "Keeping Faith" (I think it's called) and enjoyed it. Anyone read "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy? It is coming out as a movie this fall... I'd read the book first, if you like futuristic post-apocalyptic type books.

I just downloaded The One and Only Ivan because of Mehita's glowing endorsement above! I love being able to download books from the library!

Any opinion on Ivan yet? I just finished up "The Leftovers"... dumb ending. Might read Ivan again just for fun :)

I finished Inferno this week too! Loved it! I'm sure it will be a Tom Hanks movie soon!

I tend to get stuck on a novelist, and read everything until I've read their entire back catalogue, some of my favourites are...
Patricia Cornwell- The Dr. Kay Scarpetta series
Kathy Reichs- The Temperance Brenan series (That tv show Bones is based loosely on her novels)
Anything by Sandra Brown or her pseudonym JD Robb
Stephen King
Dean Koontz - Especially the Odd Thomas series
George RR Martin -Game of Thrones series
Charlaine Harris - Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood series
Lara Adrian - if you like racy vampire romance
JR Ward is racy hot vampires too

If I'm feeling like a good cry, then I look no farther then Mr. Nicholas Sparks

;)

I haven't started it yet, but am hoping to on my lunch break at work today. Finished Mudbound over the weekend and really liked it.

Sascot- Have you read The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova??? I think you would like it.

I just read the Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons. Very good!!

The last book I read was comical, Bergdorf Blondes by Plum Sykes - fun Chic lit book, lol!

Mehita-- finished up Ivan. I wasn't sure what to expect from it in the beginning, but ended up really enjoying it!
