Hubby was in severe pain again last night. the Entocort doesnt seem to be working and hes so hungry and afraid to eat anythjng. i think we will go to ER today to be on the safe sids. hes gettkng sharp stabbing pains and his tummy skin is sore too. im at my wits end i wish i knew whats causing the inflammation. i dont even think its food anymore hes just in constant inflammation. would the prednazone work netter? Maybe its too far gone and he needs surgery :(

How long has he been on entocort.? Pred can work quickly, for some a couple days others a week. The inflammation can cause pain regardless of food. Was he started on a maintenance med when he was started on entocort?

Surgery is sometimes warrented but if it is CD the incidence of recurrence is high. Is there an on call GI he can contact?

Hi clash
ty for taking the time to reply. Hes been on Entocort for about a week. we started with that because we were afraid of meds. and the doc said it is the lowest absorbed. when you say maintenance meds what do you mean? Im so scared for him to take immune drugs in case he gets cancer luekemia etc. i was hoping steroids would be something thatd work :( his lower intestine was so inflammed they couldnt get a scope in during the colonoscopy.
Hes afraid to eat and so hungry. is bread ok to eat during a flare? Im just beside myself trying to figure this all out

Whether it is a steroid like pred or entocort they are used to initially dampen the inflammation. When you taper off of these the inflammation returns. Therefore, GIs also px maintenance meds to keep the inflammation under control.

I can understand your fear of med side effects but you need to take into account the risk of under treated or uncontrolled active disease present. You need to take these concerns to your GI.
