Recent Perianal Drainage

Hi All

I am new to this group and I am hoping you can put my mind at ease

I recently had surgery to drain a perianal abscess (2 weeks ago) and have been recovering since, i no longer have packing in the wound and have visited the doctor/nurse on a few occasions for them to check the wound to ensure its healing, last visit was on thursday when the doctor said it was healing well

But i have a few concerns and i am sure they are unfounded but some help would really be appreciated

I still have gunk oozing from the would, sometimes is is a clear gunk with a yellow tinge, however today it was a pinky colour, is this normal

the wound is sometimes very itchy, is this normal

also somedays it does not ooze anything, however some days it oozes like anything, no real consistency, is this to be expected.

i apologise if these questions have been asked already but i guess i just want some understanding

Hi Deane and welcome. It's normal for drainage to occurs. Keep it clean and covered. Itching is a sign of healing.
