Hi everyone. I am 25 from Cape Coral, FL and I have been recently diagnosed with crohn's earlier this month. Had a colonoscopy done and the doctor did not see anything and it seemed like he was going to blow me off, but I knew that the symptoms are real. My mom has crohn's and she told me to ask him for the Prometheus test. The results came back positive. He has scheduled me for a test where you swallow a camera pill. Not real sure what is going to happen from here. He told me to stay away from dairy, so I have been trying to change my diet (which isn't easy). I am still having the "Big D" everyday (as you guys call it). Maybe you guys can give me some tips on recipes. All I know is soup, salad, and breadsticks from Olive Garden is very very bad. Me and my mom went there for lunch and had to hit up the bathroom twice there and we decided it would be a good idea to go to bed bath and beyond. Bad decision. Between me and my mom I am suprised we did not get stopped for shoplifting. Sweating like crazy walking fast towards the bathroom and having to stop suddenly at every other shelf and pretending you are looking at stuff so you don't have an accident in the middle of the isle, and then continue to speed walk to the bathroom about 4 different times. Man it can be tough sometimes. Is it just me, but I think that every public bathroom needs to have music playing. Well, I would appreciate some feedback. See ya.

Hehe... I heard you on the music in every restroom bit.

Welcome aboard. I wish I had some good recipes for you, but I'm still learning as I go too.

Nice to see another person from my neck of the woods, though. :) I'm down in Fort Lauderdale.

Best of luck to you.

That's odd your doc would dismiss you so easily, what did the colonoscopy show if he didn't find anything...there should be something there to indicate not all is well...I would think?

And welcome, I'm also 25 and know about the joys of urgent bathroom games (not so much a game really, if it was, I'd lose everytime).

Stay away from salads a little more if they do that, the breadsticks and soup though shouldn't be as bad, unless you have an issue with the wheat in the bread or some ingredients in the soup.

Hi Shorty.. Welcome to the Forum. Yeah, 'public' bathrooms in stores, etc., CAN be a challenge... AND there is nothing worse than getting there and seeing a lineup.

The colonoscopie thingy probably means your colon is clear, but your crohns is up in the ileum... the pill cam should show the doc exactly what is going on. I can't speak from personal experience with the pill cam, as I haven't had it done (yet).. Not even sure if it's available here... But others have gone that route. I know (unless there's severe stricture or blockage) that it's a fairly routine thing

As for diet or recipes, it's pretty much an individual sort of thing. Everyone is a case unto themselves. Keep a daily diary.. record EVERYTHING that goes into you, AND the symptoms you experience over the next 24 - 48 hours each day.
Food, pills, vitamins, supplements, liquids... any/all of them can have good/bad effects. It helps to have someone else in the family with same disease. You can compare notes, take advantage of their (or our) experiences. If you can afford it or are covered for it, try to get in to see an IBD nutritionist/dietician. They can be of great help. Personally, I'm on a low fat, low fibre, low residue, low lactose BUT hi protein diet... You may be in the same boat, or easier/harder diet.. Only time/experience and personal or online advice will help with a diet.

Anyway, don't know if my input was of any help. Keep posting, keep asking, and once again, welcome to the Forum. Be sure to tell other crohnies about it.

Hi, i was resently dx'd with crohns and have just found the forum which is very helpful to me, anyway i was having a laugh (not at your exspence) about the shopping trips because i have had that same problem with having to go to the toilet everytime i am shopping and my friends allways give me heaps about it.
