Hi everyone, currently messaging from my hospital bed on the 3rd day of my recovery from surgery. I had a right hemicolectomy and another area of small intestine resected, both were about 15cm long strictures. I believe a couple balloons were put in too for smaller ones.
It was done lap with one tiny incision and then other vertical one through my belly about 3 inches.
Im just quite miserable so far. I think I massive underestimated how hard it would be to recover and I'm finding it hard to see how my insides will ever be in a better shape after this than they were before. Everything's so sore and bloated. I've started passing wind today but absolutely no appetite so no idea how or when I'll pass stools because I just can't push with this wound.
Hopefully some of you out there can reassure me I've done the right thing going ahead with all this.

I'm 8 weeks in recovery after a resection. I'm not going to lie the recovery is extremely slow. I'm still getting pretty extreme pain in my stomach after this time. My wounds and scars on the outside have healed. Please give at least 3-4 months I think before you see a big improvement.

I just want to prepare you because I got very frustrated myself and depressed I don't want to see others go through this. If you prepare yourself and don't put too many expectations on yourself too early you will be fine.
