I have my infusion tomorrow and my pre-meds include Solu Medrol because of a reaction I had back in January. I started pred on Friday because of a flair and was wondering if anyone might know if they will still pre-medicate or will the pred be enough? I am only on 20mg.

Hi Country Girl
Sorry to see you have not had a reply to your post.
Remicade at 20mg sounds quite a high dose if that is per Kg weight..
I am on 5mg/kg and so receive an infusion of 400mg over several hours.
The SoluMedrol will certainly be helpful to you.
Do you also have benadryl?
Hope everything went well for you.
Feel better soon
Hugs and best wishes

did you mean you are on 20mg of pred? they'll not give you hydrocortisone before the infusion if you are already on pred and solumedrol but you'll most likely still get Benadryl and Tylenol.
what kind of reaction did you have in January. was it remicade?

It was 20mg of pred. I am only on 4mg based on weight for the Remicade. and they did give me the Solu Medrol, even with being on pred for the flair up I am having. The reaction was a rash that showed up on my hands the last 30 minutes in January. And we already know that I am allergic to Humira (and my dad is allergic to Remicade but it is the only thing that helps his CD) so they watch me like a hawk during my infusion.

sheesh its in your family then. at least you have someone to talk to about it. ive got no1 in my family with IBD, im the 1st and hopefully the last!
I find it weird that they still go ahead with remicade when its clear your body rejects it. as long as its not a life threatening reaction. rashes and sinus things are easily treatable.
