Hi everyone! I was diagnosed in April of 2011, and so far have only ever been treated with Remicade. However, I lost my insurance when I turned 19. Over this summer I had to miss a treatment because of this, and was so sick that I had to be hospitalized. I now have an 8,000 dollar hospital bill that I can't pay, on top of all my student loans, and I had to miss anoth er treatment today. I still have no health insurance. I am very seriously considering switching to Humira since it is much cheaper. Anyone on Humira, or who has switched from Remicade to Humira? Feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much! :)

Kassy, have you looked into the Remistart program? It covers the Remicade if you don't have ins and qualify based on income it can cover the whole cost, I believe. I don't know all the details but even with ins it covers some of the cost. You can google remistart and get some info. Also, I think humira has a similar program you may want to check out.

Yes, I was actually supposed to register for Remistart but then my infusion person called and told me my Medicaid had come through. She was wrong, which she called to tell me last Friday. Even the Remistart would cost me $50 every six weeks which obviously is better than nothing, but even on the Remicade my protein levels still weren't quite right, so I was considering switching to Humira anyways...but I'm just a little worried about msking the switch without a better idea of the possibilities. But anyways, thank you for the information :)

You may want to check out our treatment subforum you can find alot of threads about Humira and others' experience with it. I'm sure there are many there that have switched from Remicade to Humira.

Hello
Sorry to hear you have been having problems. I was on remicade first then built up antibodies to it. I was then switched to humira and it worked well for about a year I had to have injections weekly instead of every two weeks for it to be effective. I then had an alergic reaction to this med as well. I have reactions to most meds though as I am hypersensitive to them if there is a side effect I'll get it lol.
Both medications gave me a lot of releif and if I could of continued I would have done. I hope whatever choice you make it helps quickly x
