Started remicade in January. I did 3 treatments and after the 3rd I felt great. It was like a dark cloud lifted. Now I'm waiting the 8 weeks for my next treatment (2 weeks left) and I feel horrible. Whole body hurts chills fever bloody diarrhea anxiety nausea. I have a call into the Dr to see if I can have the treatment now. I'm wondering has this ever happened to anyone in between treatments? If so do you feel better immediately after the treatment? Also has anyone ever started at 6 week intervals instead of 8?

My son started Remicade last year, at 15, he did great right after the first loading dose and felt 100% through the other two. But, he was unable to make it the full 8 weeks between infusion and has had to up his dose to the highest dose and shortened his infusion schedule to every 6 weeks. He has also had to add MTX.

8 weeks is where they like to start the treatments but many Remicade users have to tweak their dosage or schedule to achieve remission. Once you do well for a period of time at the higher dose or shortened schedule the GI may try to taper you back out to eight weeks.

Good luck.

My son wasn't able to make it to 8 weeks the first time it was stretched that far. I removed dairy and he hasn't had a problem since. His GI said that this was common and that removing the dairy/lactose helps many with Crohn's.

Started at 8 week intervals, had to go to 7 for the past 3 years, and always by week 5 after treatment there are symptoms. Usually by week 7, I am unable to work at all. I hope to get the frequency reduced to every 6 weeks, but it's so expensive that it's unlikely to be approved by the government program that pays for my treatment. :( 1.5 weeks of sick leave every 7 weeks sucks. :frown:

The Dr did move my fragment to every 6 weeks had it last Thursday. No improvement yet. I and going to give it a full week the call. Probably add prednisone:(

I'm the same. Was fine after my loading doses but I struggle after about 5 weeks and to be honest mine only works when I'm on pred as well
