When would one consider themselves in remission?

I've been under the impression I am in remission simply because the majority of my symptoms have gone, but I still have some, just nothing worth mentioning and nothing I can't ignore.

Is that how it is for everyone? Or is remission totally 100% picture perfect health?

Thats the way I define it I don't believe there is a total cure for crohn's. My blood tests every two months are invaluable in letting me know how things are going. I'm taking Humira and I still have slight cramping once in awhile but most of the worst symptoms are gone.

Be careful there telling myself it will go away, not mentioning things to my Doctors I thought where minor have lead to far worse situations. I think because we get used to dealing with pain we sometimes let things go to far before seeking help. Trying to wish things, pain away doesn't work out in the end.

Glad you are feeling better and wish you a great 2014.

Is having pain, nausea and a major cramp then having to go to the bathroom pronto any part of the remission state? I am 8 weeks on Humira, and still deal with this scenario right after eating. Not always, but often. It still wipes me out and either take Levesin (cramps) or Zofran(nausea). How long do I wait before determining I may need something extra to the Humira?

You have to have doctors that are experienced with this all that you trust, be aggressive, assertive with them in seeking out which meds work for you. Don't take a back seat in this be assertive. I'm taking humira now for almost two years with great results. The questions, your concerns your doctor needs to know about right away. I'm not sure there is a set time frame to see results from humira I believe it's different with each person. Contact your doctor Monday don't put it off wishing things would get better on Tuesday.

Thank you for your reply. Are you taking methotrexate along with Humira or just Humira itself? I really don't want to add methotrexate unless it's
Absolutely necessary.

yes the 6-mp is to help prevent fistulas from reoccurring
I was on Humira only for about 6 months with PICC line, no eating getting ready for surgery where they took my coke pouch out in place of a stoma and cut out sections where I had fistulas for years, after surgery back to humira with the 6-mp thats been almost a year and all is great to this point
