Every once in a while, after having a poor diet decision (like eating too much barbecue or whatever) I am hit with a high fever and pounding headache at the same time, as well as abdominal pain and diarrhea. (Typically I do not feel nausea though)

I feel fairly convinced that it's related to crohn's. It only ever happens after I'm dumb about what I eat.

But my question is.. what exactly is happening here? I'm not currently insured and I'm wondering what the odds are of this being something very serious.

I don't want to randomly slip into septic shock or anything like that..

Does anyone else experience these reoccurring headaches/HIGH fevers? and does anyone have any idea what exactly causes them?

Oh PS. I do have crohns. Diagnosed in '03

Whenever my Crohns feels the worst, I run fever. I always figured it was just because my insides were more inflamed, and inflammation equals fever.

How high is high, too? When I feel the worst, I'm typically in the 101 range. Do yours get higher?

A high fever usually indicates something pretty serious. I know you said you don't have insurance, but please try to get this checked out.

And at the very least, stay away from those things that make you sick!

Are you currently on any meds?

A fellow crohnie says sometime MSG can react to our bodies, but then again it could be IBD. Even with herbals and meds. You maybe needing blood work.

My fever was around 103 when this last happened, and it had likely fallen from it's peak when i checked.

I'm going to be eating a lot more carefully from now on.

I'm not on any medication right now, no, I used to be on imuran, but my doctor had suggested possibly weening off of it, as I was symptom free for a while.

When was the last time you saw a doctor? Like others have said, even if you don't have insurance, you still should be checked out by a doctor. It's never a good idea to try to self-diagnose yourself. If you are under the age of 26, you can be on your parent's plan.

The last time I saw a doctor was maybe a year ago. I'm 23, and my parents don't have insurance either :x.

Anyway, I think the next time this happens I'll head to the hospital. It might be a chance to get some insurance.

Thanks for the responses, guys. :). I think perhaps I'm gambling a little too much. I'm still curious as to what it might be, though.
