Repeat Colonoscopy To Finalize Crohn's Diagnosis

So 9 months ago a colonoscopy showed inflammation at terminal ileum. Unbeknownst to me and my doctor my gallbladder was also bad at this same time. While briefly responding to prednisone and Pentasa, the pain never stopped( due to the GB).

Had GB surgery last month, and had hoped that would fix all my problems. Well that hasn't happened. Do feel much better, no pain, but still have lack of appetite, losing weight, constipation.

So repeat colonoscopy in 10 days. If it shows inflammation, he is going to do a pill cam and start me on a different med. Humira really made me susceptible to constant infections.

Questions...what other meds? What if there is no inflammation? Would it still be symptoms left over from GB surgery? I asked my surgeon if an inflammed GB could also cause inflammation in the TI, and he said no. So I now will know in the next 3 weeks what my diagnosis is ( hopefully). Any comments appreciated.

When they did your last colonoscopy that showed inflammation in the TI, did they biopsy at that time? I would think that should have given them a diagnosis. I mean I am surprised they would start you on Humira that fast. That is usually a drug they use after they have tried other less risky meds first. Not sure what a repeat colonoscopy so soon will prove. I mean If you are still having symptoms, why don't they just treat you if they have already diagnosed you?

Yes he did biopsies and that is what showed inflammation. I think the pain I was experiencing was so intense he wanted to try the Humira. We did not know at that time my gallbladder was inflamed.
