Hi All,

New here, but a veteran in the Crohn's world.
I have an appt. coming up with my surgeon about my very first ever resection for a stricture (plus or minus a foot of scar tissue above that area) in the sigmoid area. I would like to be armed with my list of questions. My initial appt with him was basically me telling him my history, after that he ran some lovely tests, and now I will sit down with him and book this thing.
He wants to do the hand-assisted surgery with lap.
If I want a straight lap, I would have to go to another hospital and use another surgeon, and I really feel comfortable with this particular doc.
Can you guys give me some input as to what questions I need to ask, like I said, I am new to bowel surgery. I have had abdominal surgery for other issues, but not bowels.

First off, welcome. Secondly, I wish you the best of luck with the surgery, and a fast recovery. As for questions to ask the doc, the first thing that came to my mind was how long it will take to recover, how long before going back to work...

Heya had this done like 2 months ago, but had open surgery main ones I was concerned about was what pain control they think will be appropriate?? Whether they'd use staples or stitches?? How long I'll be in for?? What foods to stay away from to make things easier on the inside?? Hope everything is smooth sailing
