Does anyone else suffer from this - I find I have to take a muscle relaxer almost every night so i can get to sleep. On enough pills already - there has to be a better way. i tried RL cream - no luck - and gastrolyte - no luck.

Open to any suggestions.

Thanks again to everyone on this site - it really is amazing how people pull together. I'm with John-88 - you all seem so nice - I wish i knew you in person. :)

i have the same problem. it usually wake me up out of a deep sleep and makes it so i cannot go back to sleep for hours. it's really annoying. i also get restless arms. i'm taking gabapentin right now because my doctor think my arthralgia and fibromyalgia could be why i am getting them. he also suggest i see a neurologist.

Thanks for the quick response. I know that pregnancy seems to affect it, but I'm not pregnant nor have I ever been. so "Have the baby" is not an option for me. :)

I will look at Gabapentin? Taking a quarter of an oxycodone tonight - but it makes me itchy so i probably won't sleep anyways. My poor husband - keeps him awake too.

Will update you after I try the "G" medicine.

I used to get it and I believe it's due to some sort of deficient but not sure which one I'm afraid I was worse before I got into remission. When I was tapering from pred I was really bad then it all just went away. Ru taking vitamin supplements?

It's also a side effect from certain drugs like phenergan. I take phenergan and will have this problem and it's pretty awful. I have to balance my need not to puke with restless leg.

Talk to you doc about it. These days there are special meds for restless legs. I have it too but these days not too bad and it only sets in when I cannot go to sleep quickly enough.

But, I talked to my GP about it and he is ready (once it gets worse for me) to prescribe meds especially geared to help with restless legs.

The bad thing is that it seems to get worse with aging. I know my dad has it really bad.

I get Restless Leg Syndrome almost every night and it too wakes me up from a deep sleep. It's actually linked to a defenciency I believe. I learned about it in my psychology class so let me do some reading and I will come back with a better answer lol

My GI sent me to a neurologist who ruled out anything "serious." She told me it was probably linked to a deficiency in potassium plus my iron levels were at an all time low at the time. I didn't take (and wasn't prescribed) any meds for it but suffered through it. As I became stronger and healthier (after surgery) the syndrome seemed to lessen. Now I only get RLS when I am very tired.

I used to get it when i was pregnant and it drove me mad.

I have heard and read that it can be a lack of magnesium in the body, same as when your eye twitches at the eye lid. I guess there are magnesium tablets out there, not sure what foods are high in it though.

It's annoying though hey......

Just read today in our newspaper, restless legs can be from low Magnesium, you'd be surprised at how low we can be of it cause the natural way, we have to avoid those foods. I am inquiring from Dan on our forum..so I need to get it. Banana's are my only source and I also need the potassium in it.

I agree wiIth CyCrohnsGuy and Pen. Potassium and magnesium are easy checks, and for me, anemia seems to have been a trigger. I had RLS all the time when my blood and iron levels were low, but it has not shown up at all since my body decided it was going to hold onto those two.

I take an anti sezure meds, one and a half or neurontin at night along with a muscle relaxer but I still move around alot at night. Good luck in finding somthing that works for you.
