Just got home from my c-scope. Went well. I don't remember a thing past "Wow, this stuff works fast" after the anesthesia was administered.

Here are the findings:

"No mucosal abnormalities, fistula, fissure, etc. Scattered aphthous type ulcerations in sigmoid/descending colon. 3-4mm white bases with surrounding red edges. Mucosa was edematous, reddened in these areas. Transverse colon mucoas was normal. Cecum involved with 3 filamentous pseudo polyps. The ileocecal valve was edematous and didn't permit passage of the scope to ileum. No obvious site for fistula seen. Bx. and polypectomy was performed w/ some friability noted and EBL of 20cc."

Impression:

"Crohn's disease of the colon. Crohn's disease of the cecum, ileocecal valve with pseudo polyps. No fistula seen."

So, the paperwork is being started for Humira pending a chest x-ray to make sure I don't have TB. :)

Glad it's done!

I am glad it is done too!.....I hope the Humira gets approved quickly so you can get some relief......

Glad hear it went smoothly for u
an hope they approve ya for the humira so u can get better an back on with ya life

I'm glad it went well for you and that they're getting right on treatment for you! Good luck!

I know it sucks to go through the prep but it is worth it to get some answers as to why you are in pain. I was on Humira for a about 6 months, it did help some. I hope it works for you. I am surprised they didnt start with Remicade, it is the usual first of the biologics, but way more expensive. Good luck keep us posted!

They are starting me on Humira because it's the only one covered on our insurance, haha. So, we'll see. I hope it works too! Still freaked out about the idea of going myself a belly shot. :eek2:

Well its good to finally have a diagnosis!
I hope the Humira help you out.
Have fun fartin out all the air they blasted up there!! :p

Hahaha, Brian. It wasn't too bad actually afterwards. BUT, they did squash my dreams of eating a giant pizza. They said no fatty or greasy foods so I could ease back into food. Darn it. Tomorrow, I tell ya. I'm eating pizza! Nom nom.

worth It for the diagnosis!..........Good luck with your treatment.........hope you are in good hands with your doctors..........I wish you the best of luck and health!!

My GI doc is associated with the CCFA and is a specialist in Crohn's. I'm pretty happy so far with him. Really nice and easy to talk to. We'll see if he really knows his stuff ;)

Don't worry about the Humira shots, we are here to help you. The legs are easier but I used a syringe, most people use the pens, I dont have phobias about needles and found it less painful for me. Most people ice the area before the do the injections. It is convient too, done at home!

I guess I will find out which will be less painful for me when I do the loading doses since I'll have to do 4. They gave me a start pack though with a practice pen and that looks pretty helpful. I think an RN will come by to help the first day too. But first I must get a chest x-ray!

Nom nom. Heehee! You deserve that pizza.

aw enjoy your pizza dream!
glad you finally have your diagnosis, and will start some effective treatment soon! i am building myself up for a massive takeaway when i'm over this flare....got my colonoscopy on friday....

cannot wait....

hugs x

Glad you everything went well and you finally found something out!!

Wish I could have just done a chest x-ray for my TB test!!! They made me have the serum injected under my skin and then come back 3 days later! I did it on the friday so by monday I was ready to freak out!! LOL

Hope the Humira works for you!! I start mine tomorrow so I'll let you know how the loading dose goes :)

I haven't had my entire pizza, yet, haha. But, yesterday I found 2 leftover pieces of pizza that we had a few days before the colonoscopy so I munched on those for lunch. Apparently my husband was looking forward to ordering pizza and was disappointed I had already eaten it for lunch. I expect we will get it this weekend though. We're usually too lazy on the weekends to try and cook anything! ;)

i foolishy had some takeout chinese sweet and sour chicken after i got back from my colonoscopy on friday...it rocked....for the half hour it stayed in my tummmy that was, but it was oh so worth it! yum yum! back to the soup and scrambled egg tho til i calm down again....
cold pizza sounds awesome too tho! what you have on it? mmmmm i love jalepenos on mine... :)

dream have you started your humira yet?

I just had cheese on the pizza. I'm not really allowed veggies currently and I've heard lunch meats (ie pepperoni) can sometimes be hard on the tummy too. Normally I like everything on it!! Jalapenos sound tasty. I've never had those on a pizza before :)

I start my Humira tomorrow!!

aww good luck hope it goes well for you! i am just waiting for my biopsy results to come back and they are gonna decide about changing my meds completely, so there is a chance i'l end up on something like infliximab or humira or something like that, will be interested in how you get on.....good luck!
mmmm yup, jalepenos and cheese on a pizza, it is the bomb......until it hits the bowels, but hey ho.....:)

Well, I hope they figure things out for you soon :) I'm posting in the Humira Club thread on my Humira journey, so definitely check in there for updates!

I bet I would like jalapenos and cheese since I love jalapeno poppers. Do you have those in Scotland? Fried jalapenos stuffed with cheddar cheese. Mmm! Maybe when my tummy feels better someday....haha...

Biopsy results

I received my biopsy results in the mail today. It basically said the biopsies identified the presence of colitis (inflammation of the bowel). And I would get another colonoscopy in 6 months.

It was a pretty brief letter. So, is this a good outcome (is this basically saying "Yup, you have Crohn's")? I'm not really sure what to compare it to, haha. What other sorts of things could have been found from a biopsy?

I guess it's good that I don't have to choke down that vile TriLyte prep for another 6 months, haha. I still want to know about the narrowing in my ileum that they saw on my CT scans when I was in the hospital. That will be something I ask my GI doc when I follow-up with him in April.

Aw thats good to hear, i know i hate that nasty prep.....

yeah thats something to question your GI about in april, i hope i get my clinic appt soon, theres just too much i want to get sorted and my patience is wearing thin..

mmm i am gonna have a look in the freezer aisle for some jalepeno cheese things...i'm sure i have seen them in the passing, gonna give them a go, yum!

being spoiled at my mums for a few days, its all good soup, food and tlc....love it!

hope your doing a bit better, xx

Let me know if you find the jalapeno poppers, haha. And I LOVE soup! I am jealous, haha. Going home to mom's always means good food though. ;-)

Hi Dream,

Im glad you got some answers from your procedures, nothing worse then doing all the prep and going thru it all to still not get any answers so you are very lucky. The results are good as it does indicate Crohns and now you are actually diagnosed. Good luck with the treatment I hope it does wonders for you.
